ZVOČNA KOPEL
V svetu, ki je pogosto prežet z napetostjo, nemirom in vsakodnevnimi izzivi, lahko trenutek notranjega miru veliko pomeni. Molitev, meditacija in druge sprostitvene prakse nam pomagajo vzpostaviti ravnovesje. Ko pri sebi razrešimo vsaj majhen košček napetosti, s tem ne vplivamo pozitivno le na svoje počutje, temveč tudi na okolje, v katerem živimo – akcija/reakcija oziroma »butterfly effect«.
Zvočna kopel ali meditacijsko sprostitvena tehnika z zvokom je ena izmed metod, ki ljudem pomaga pri umiritvi, sprostitvi in vzpostavljanju notranjega ravnovesja. Bolj kot smo umirjeni, lažje telo in um delujeta v smeri boljšega počutja. Seveda ni vsaka metoda primerna za vsakogar; nekoga sprošča tek, drugega šport, tretjega glasba. A tudi tisti, ki se na zvočni kopeli sprva ne počutijo popolnoma domače, lahko ob zvoku in vibracijah doživijo občutek sprostitve na telesni, čustveni ali mentalni ravni.
Vibracije gongov, pojočih posod in drugih zvočil so izrazite, telo pa – ker vsebuje veliko tekočine – zvok dobro prenaša. Mnogi udeleženci opisujejo, da vibracije občutijo fizično, pogosto kot nežno masiranje, valovanje ali toplino. To lahko prispeva k občutku sproščenosti, umirjenosti ter splošno boljšemu počutju.
Gal Furlan se z glasbo ukvarja že več kot 20 let, predvsem z bobni in tolkali. Znanje je pridobival pri priznanem bobnarju in tolkalcu Zlatku Kaučiču ter na različnih delavnicah. Leta 2013 je začel raziskovati tudi področje zvočnih terapij in od takrat izvedel številne individualne in skupinske zvočne kopeli. Zaradi dolgoletnega igranja na tolkala mu je bilo tehnično znanje za instrumente, ki se uporabljajo na zvočnih kopelih, že dobro poznano; mnoge tehnike, ki jih je osvojil pri improvizirani glasbi, se uporabljajo tudi pri igranju terapevtskih zvočil.
Čeprav Gal nosi v sebi lastno, osebno duhovno izkušnjo in prepričanja, se pri svojem delu ne uvršča med t. i. »new-agerje«. Na zvočnih kopelih ne podaja zgodbic ali konceptov, ki bi jih želel komurkoli vsiljevati ali prodajati. Njegov pristop je nevtralen, iskren in osredotočen na bistvo: ustvariti prostor, v katerem se ljudje lahko sprostijo, umirijo in dobro počutijo – kar je tudi temeljni namen zvočne kopeli kot meditacijsko-sprostitvene tehnike.
Galove zvočne kopeli so raznolike, a vedno sledijo zasnovi, ki vključuje širok spekter frekvenc. Na začetku in koncu poskrbi za »prizemljitev«, vmes pa se pot zvoka lahko razvije v različne smeri. Pri tem so pomembni namen, tehnika, občutek za instrument ter notranje poslušanje prostora in ljudi.
Udeleženci Galovih zvočnih kopeli so do zdaj poročali o zelo različnih izkušnjah. Nekateri so opisali izventelesno izkušnjo, drugi mravljinčenje oziroma občutek masaže po telesu. Nekateri zaznajo vibriranje na delu telesa, kjer imajo težave ali kjer so bili operirani, spet drugi doživljajo živahne notranje slike ali vizije. Veliko udeležencev pa med celotno zvočno kopeljo preprosto globoko zaspi – med njimi tudi tisti, ki imajo sicer pogosto težave s spanjem.
Instrumenti, ki jih Gal uporablja na zvočnih kopelih, vključujejo tradicionalne in planetarne gonge, tibetanske in kristalne pojoče posode, uglašene cevi, dežno palico, didgeridoo, tongue drum, udu drum, kalimbo, djembe, šamanski boben ter različna tolkala. Na individualnih zvočnih kopelih uporablja tudi glasbene vilice.
OPOZORILO: Na zvočno kopel ne prihajajte pod vplivom alkohola ali psihoaktivnih substanc. Skupinska zvočna kopel ni priporočljiva za ljudi s hujšimi srčnimi obolenji (npr. srčni spodbujevalnik), epilepsijo ali težjimi psihičnimi težavami. V takih primerih je primernejša individualna zvočna kopel.

SOUND BATH
In a world often filled with tension, restlessness and daily challenges, even a brief moment of inner peace can mean a great deal. Prayer, meditation and other relaxation practices help us restore balance. When we resolve even a small part of our own inner tension, we positively influence not only ourselves but also the environment we live in – action/reaction, the “butterfly effect”.
A sound bath, or a meditation-based relaxation technique using sound, is one of the methods that helps people unwind, calm down and find inner balance. The more relaxed we are, the more easily our body and mind move toward a state of wellbeing. Of course, not every method suits everyone; some people relax through running, others through sports or music. Yet even those who may not feel completely “at home” during a sound bath often experience a sense of relaxation on a physical, emotional or mental level.
The vibrations of gongs, singing bowls and other sound instruments are very distinct, and the body – containing a large amount of fluid – transmits these vibrations well. Many participants describe feeling the vibrations physically, often as gentle massaging, waves or warmth. This can contribute to a sense of relaxation, calmness and improved overall wellbeing.
Gal Furlan has been involved in music for more than 20 years, mainly with drums and percussion. He studied with the renowned drummer and percussionist Zlatko Kaučič and attended various workshops. In 2013 he began exploring sound therapy and has since performed numerous individual and group sound baths. His long-standing experience with percussion gave him a strong technical foundation for playing the instruments used in sound baths; many techniques learned through improvised music translate naturally into therapeutic sound work.
Although Gal carries within himself his own personal spiritual experience and beliefs, in his work he does not classify himself as a so-called "new-ager". During his sound baths, he does not offer spiritual stories or concepts, nor does he attempt to persuade or “sell” anything to anyone. His approach is neutral, genuine and focused on the essence: creating a space where people can relax, calm down and feel good – which is the fundamental purpose of a sound bath as a meditation-based relaxation technique.
Gal’s sound baths are diverse, yet they always follow a structure that includes a wide spectrum of frequencies. At the beginning and end he provides grounding, and in between the sound journey can take many directions. Intention, technique, sensitivity to the instrument and listening to the space and participants all play an important role.
Participants of Gal’s sound baths have reported a wide variety of experiences. Some describe out-of-body sensations, others tingling or a massage-like feeling throughout the body. Some feel vibrations in areas where they have physical issues or past surgeries, while others experience vivid inner images or visions. Many participants simply fall into a deep sleep during the session – including those who usually struggle with sleep.
The instruments Gal uses include traditional and planetary gongs, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, tuned pipes, rainstick, didgeridoo, tongue drum, udu drum, kalimba, djembe, shamanic drum and various percussion instruments. For individual sessions, he also uses tuning forks.
WARNING: Do not attend a sound bath under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances. Group sound baths are not recommended for individuals with serious heart conditions (e.g., pacemakers), epilepsy or severe psychological difficulties. In such cases, an individual sound bath is more appropriate.
